The six main features of latex can be summarised as follows:
Breathability. The special structure of latex, which features intercommunicating micro-cells, allows the air to circulate freely.
Hygiene. Thanks to its antibacterial, germicidal and fungicidal properties, latex is extremely hygienic and non-allergic.
Elasticity. Latex can withstand a very high degree of elongation without breaking (up to 10 times its original length).
Anti-magnetism. 100% latex mattresses are the perfect answer to concerns regarding the effects on people of magnetic fields in the domestic environment as they contain no metal elements.
Resilience. When the load on the mattress is removed, it quickly returns to its original shape.
Non-allergenicity. Latex rubber is a hostile environment for certain microorganisms, such as dust mites, which live and proliferate in warm, damp environments. With regard to non-allergenicity, the Italian Ministry of Health states: “The ideal mattress and pillow are made of latex rubber.”(see Italian Ministry of Health Bulletin, vol. 31, no. 3 (1995), pages 343-350).
