THE OEKO-TEX® Standard 100 certification is issued by the International Association of Research and Control in the Textile Ecology sector (OEKO-TEX®) and applies to the whole textile sector, from raw materials to semi-finished products, such as mattresses.

The textile products used to package the mattresses go through stringent tests that analyze the presence of any harmful and hazardous substances to human health.

WHAT ARE THE PROHIBITED SUBSTANCES?

In order to determine whether a product is eligible for certification, a number of tests are carried out on harmful substances, including:

• substances prohibited by law;

• substances the use of which is regulated by law;

• chemicals known to be harmful to health (but not yet regulated by law);

• parameters for health protection.

The Standard identified by the Oeko-Text is very important, as the requirements go far beyond existing national laws.
